We're a friendly group of volunteers who meet regularly to engage with the homeless community on the streets of London. Our purpose is to interact with rough sleepers and other vulnerable members of society, while providing hot drinks, food, clothing and a chat!
The Hot Choc Mob's main objective is to create a little warmth in the lives of people whose daily existence can be a struggle. We seek to approach all those we meet with an open-minded spirit of empathy and solidarity, and are not affiliated with any charity or religious ideology.
On our meetup, we'll be going out in small groups, led by one of our walk leaders, for an hour or so, during which we will share the provisions we have and talk with/listen to those we meet.

BLIND BALLROOM: SEEKING VOLUNTEER DANCE PARTNERS
Award-winning Step Change Studios supports disabled people to participate in dance. We run the only dedicated blind ballroom dance programme in the UK. We are looking for sighted dance partners to dance with our students.
Classes take place every Saturday in Central London (Aldwych) at 10am - 11.10am, and 11.25am - 12.30pm. Volunteer for one or both classes. While volunteers don't need to be available every week, we ask that you commit to attending at least once to twice a month.
Volunteers help students to follow dance instruction by guiding them as they learn and dance together in class. Our volunteers provide invaluable support, giving encouragement and contributing to the positive dance community we have built. Volunteers must have relevant dance experience, good communication skills, and be empathetic and adaptable.
Some volunteers also help walk with students from Holborn station to the venue and back, but this is optional.
This is a fun, rewarding role and previous volunteers have had additional opportunities to perform and compete with our students.

Two Temple Place is a magnificent neo-Tudor gem in central London, built in 1895 for William Waldorf Astor. In 2011 we opened our first annual free exhibition, and since then exhibitions have welcomed 460,000 visitors. We run a growing programme of cultural and community events designed to open our doors more often, to more people. We rely on our friendly and enthusiastic team of more than 180 volunteers to make our free exhibitions possible. We are recruiting volunteers for our 2026 exhibition, The Weight of Being, which will explore the profound ways in which external pressures shape artistic expression, mental health, and resilience, highlighting the power of art as a means of expression, resistance, and survival.
Volunteers provide support in a front of house role by:
•Welcoming and engaging with visitors
•Ensuring the safety of visitors and exhibition objects
•Providing information about the building, the exhibitions, and events
•Looking after the gallery spaces
•Helping us run the exhibition shop (optional)
We look to recruit volunteers who are:
•Friendly & polite
•Helpful & proactive
•Punctual & reliable
•Keen to learn & enthusiastic
We welcome people of all abilities and offer a supportive environment for those with additional needs. We provide all training for the role; no prior volunteering or gallery experience is needed, just enthusiasm and commitment!

Join Us for a Hot Choc Mob Evening!
We’ll be hitting the streets of London with something simple but powerful: warm drinks, snacks, and human connection.
The Hot Choc Mob is a group of volunteers who believe a small act of kindness can mean a lot to someone sleeping rough or living through a tough time. We’re not a charity or religious group—just people who care and want to make a difference in our city.
You don’t need any experience to join us. You’ll be welcomed by our walk leader and introduced to the group. From there, we’ll spend about an hour sharing hot chocolate, food, clothing, and friendly conversation with people who need it most. Afterwards, if you’d like to stay, we’ll regroup at a local pub to share stories and get to know each other.
Bringing water or juice, soft fruit, tinned sardines, new socks, boxer shorts and t-shirts is always appreciated, but not required—your presence matters most. If you can’t attend but still want to support us, we also have an Amazon Wishlist for essential items.
This is your chance to make a real impact in someone’s day while meeting like-minded people who care about community and connection. Spaces are limited, so click RSVP now and join us for an evening that truly matters.

Cancer Research UK - Shine Night Walk London, 20 September 2025
We’re looking for positive, proactive, friendly people to get stuck into one of our many roles and help to create a truly memorable event. No previous experience needed, just to cheer participants on and help the team in anyway you can.
London Shine Night Walk starts at Battersea Park, follows all the main great views that London has to offer and finishes at Evolution Dome in Battersea Park. Your location will depend on what role and shift you would like to do and you will receive location and timings information nearer the time.
You can choose one of the following roles or, if you’re happy to help wherever you’re needed, you can opt to be a general volunteer and be assigned a role on the day.
Course Route Volunteer – You will be located at a strategic point along the course, ready to cheer and motivate the walkers as they make their way across the city. You will be supported by a Zone Manager and be paired up with another volunteer. You can also bring a friend to buddy up with!
Cycle Team Volunteer – Guide, support & motivate walkers by cycling parts of the route.
Pit Stop Volunteer – You could be placed at one of our pit-stops, helping to motivate the walkers & handing out refreshments.
Venue Volunteer – assisting in tasks at Start/Finish venues such as set-up and handing out medals and water.
Driver Volunteer - Our driver volunteers help us to look after Shine Night Walkers and fellow volunteers by driving our welfare and medical support vehicles, as well as operating our essential Bag Drop service to keep walkers’ valuables safe.
General Volunteer – Happy to help wherever is needed!
Have a look at the different roles and shifts and if you have any further questions before registering, please contact the Shine Volunteering team: https://www.cancerresearchuk.org/get-involved/find-an-event/charity-walks/shine-night-walk/support-on-the-night/volunteering

Event: 2025 Royal Parks Half Marathon
Location: London
Time commitment: 12th October - Half a day
What we're looking for
We need enthusiastic and outgoing volunteers who can cheer as loudly as possible for our runners as they go past our cheer points. Every year thousands of people join Team NSPCC to take on a challenge and raise money to help protect children and prevent abuse. Together with other cheerers, you'll make a huge difference to how our runners feel – helping them to complete a challenge they've spent months preparing for.
What you'll do
You'll be joining other lively and enthusiastic cheerers at our NSPCC cheer point along the route – be ready for cheering, clapping, whooping or even singing. It's a team effort, so you would also help with setting up the cheer point, giving out t-shirts and cheering materials, making sure the area is kept tidy and helping with packing down.
We have one cheer point along the course, with staggered start times. We'll be in touch to arrange with you what time to arrive, where to meet and what to expect. You don't have to be an official cheerer to come along and support team NSPCC. So if you can't make the full-time or to one of our cheer points, we'd still love to see there, just look up the event time and come along.
What you'll get
Volunteering at our events is a great way to experience the fantastic atmosphere of event days, without the training! The atmosphere at our cheer point is amazing, and we'll provide you with cheering materials and an NSPCC t-shirt so all you have to bring is your enthusiasm.
You'll be accompanied by NSPCC staff to support you and answer any questions you may have. Refreshments will be provided at the cheer points, and travel expenses will be covered up to the value of £5.
Who's right for the role?
You don't need any prior experience, just a sense of fun, team spirit and enthusiasm. It's important that you're able to spend a few hours outside, spending lots of this time cheering and clapping. You'll also need to stand for a few hours so, if you think this would be difficult, we'd advise bringing along a travel chair. If you are a wheelchair user, please let us know and we can help to identify a suitably accessible cheering point for you.
You'll need to feel comfortable if members of the public ask you about your volunteering role and will simply need to direct them to a member of staff if they have any questions about the NSPCC. We need volunteers with a warm and friendly manner, as the NSPCC is 90 per cent funded by public donations so the impression people have of us is incredibly important.
Please be aware that you'll need to make your own way to your cheer point (we will give you directions).
We can discuss which cheering post would be most convenient for you.

The time commitment is around 20 days per year, with some evenings and weekends. Much of the activity can be undertaken working remotely or at home.
What you would be involved in (specific responsibilities)
Lead thinking and provide strategic advice to Board colleagues on education and outreach programmes, ensuring that community education is embedded into long-term strategic planning.
Provide insight into the differing educational needs of young people and adults, helping to shape age-appropriate, inclusive learning experiences for all.
Support the design and delivery of first aid training programmes that use face-to-face delivery as well as digital tools and AI to engage diverse audiences.
Champion innovative approaches such as gamification, peer-led learning, and real-life scenario-based training.
Advise on partnerships with schools, youth organisations, adult learning providers, and community groups.
Help ensure that programmes are accessible, culturally relevant, and responsive to community needs.
Assist with fundraising strategies and identifying funding opportunities for educational initiatives.
Promote progression pathways for learners, including volunteering and community leadership roles.
Contribute to the evaluation of programme impact and continuous improvement.

This service supports children in London aged 5 – 18 who have been through difficult or traumatic experiences.
They may have grown up in a family impacted by domestic violence. They might be young carers, who help look after someone in their family who is ill, disabled or misuses drugs or alcohol. They may have additional needs that mean they struggle to make friends. They are usually from families who are living in, or on the brink of, poverty

Friendship Works

|
Established in 1977, Friendship Works is the UKs first youth mentoring service and is a pioneer in the field. We are a distinct service operating as part of the national charity Family Action.
We improve the emotional well-being and life chances of children and young people who are facing multiple disadvantages on a daily basis. We provide the vital support these children need to brighten their experience of childhood and build resilience for the future, by matching them with friendship mentors who give one-to-one support for at least two years. We accept referrals for children and young people aged 5-16 in London.
The children and young people we help have a range of problems to deal with, such as living with the after-effects of domestic violence or alcohol and drug misuse, or supporting parents with mental health problems. Some of the young people have mental health issues themselves; some have learning difficulties or are struggling at school; others are caring for disabled or ill relatives at home.
Whatever a childs particular circumstances, regular contact with a mentor provides the extra support and friendship they need to help them manage everyday life, explore new interests, have fun, develop life-skills and build the resilience they need to cope with adversity and lead a fulfilling adult life.
Our volunteers receive ongoing training and support from our dedicated team of professional caseworkers, who are always on hand to offer advice and guidance.

Do you have a passion for organising social groups and meeting new people? Want a flexible voluntary role that allows you to make a difference to peoples’ lives? Then this is for you!
We are looking for volunteers who enjoy meeting and talking to new people and would be willing to help us set up a new group in their area.
What would I do?
Following the success of the new groups in Hertfordshire, we are recruiting volunteers across the country to set up new NWR groups in their area.
These NWR groups will meet for conversation and informal discussions in a local cafe or pub with a set theme – this theme acts as an icebreaker and ensures that no two meetings feel the same! Themes could cover a wide range of topics and are designed to be light-hearted and an opener for conversations that could lead anywhere (and usually do!).
Your role would be to run the meetings – greeting new and existing members, ensuring that the meetings run smoothly and everyone feels welcome, included and is having fun.
You would be asked to:
• Work with NWR staff to identify which town/city to base your group in
• Consider the types of women who would be interested in your group. What would suit them in terms of the time, location and format of the meetings? How should we communicate to them about the new group? Our staff will be able to provide guidance using their wealth of experience in setting up and running groups.
• Schedule meetings and identify and arrange a suitable venue.
• Run the meetings, ensuring that everyone is made to feel welcome and has an opportunity to contribute if they want to. Promote the benefits of NWR membership.
We will:
• Offer you ideas and advice in all areas of running the meetings and managing the group.
• Write and launch a social media and marketing campaign to recruit members for your group.
• Respond to enquiries and maintain lists of those interested in attending.
The amount of time spent will vary from week to week. It is estimated that it will require 2 hours a month. The hours are flexible and can fit in with your existing commitments.
This opportunity is open to women living in the UK over the age of 18 who are able to travel to the meetings in the evening.
Travel expenses will not be reimbursed.
You will be provided with full training and support from NWR staff and will be part of a friendly and supportive network of volunteers from across the country.

We train volunteers from all over England to go into one of our partner primary schools and support the same few children each week to grow a love of reading.
We have over 50 years of experience of training volunteers to find reading for pleasure. You will listen to children read, read to them, engage in book chat and help them find books they will love.
You will be trained through small group, live, interactive group sessions and then be matched to one of our partner schools.
Once trained we offer ongoing support through an online portal, additional training sessions and you will be linked to a dedicated support rep who you can speak to if you have any questions or queries.

Under One Sky (UOS) is a volunteer-led initiative which supports people living on the streets of London through friendship, compassion, and the distribution of essential supplies.
Founded in 2012 by Mikkel Juel Iversen and a small group of friends, the organisation has since grown organically to a community of more than 1,000 volunteers. By Winter 2019, we had reached more than 4,000 homeless people through our street outreach events called “Skywalks”. At the centre of Under One Sky’s work is the power of human connection.
In April 2020, in direct response to the Covid-19 crisis, our emergency volunteer teams, along with partner organisations, began going out in Central London every day, delivering hot food and drinks to the rough sleepers who had been left behind.
By the end of 2021 we’d served our homeless friends meals/clothing close to 100,000 times as part of this operation. With every interaction, a conversation, and a silent message of ' you have not been forgotten’.

BLIND BALLROOM: SEEKING VOLUNTEER TRAVEL ASSISTANTS
Award-winning Step Change Studios supports disabled people to participate in dance. We run the only dedicated blind ballroom dance programme in the UK. We are looking for sighted volunteers to help our dancers travel to class.
Classes take place every Saturday in Central London (Aldwych) at 10am - 11.10am, and 11.25am - 12.30pm. Volunteers will meet dancers shortly before class starts and accompany them on foot from Holborn station to the dance venue, and/or accompany dancers back to the station when class finishes. Volunteers can support travel for one or both classes.
Our volunteers provide invaluable support, helping students safely access the positive dance space and community that we have built. Volunteers must have good communication skills, and be empathetic and adaptable.
This volunteering opportunity requires relatively little time - 20 minutes walking for each pick-up/drop-off from the station - so would be ideal for anyone local to the area, or anyone who wishes to have some time for exploring the local area alongside their volunteer work!
While volunteers don't need to be available every week, we ask that you commit to being available at least once to twice a month.
